With its historical perspective, Debby writes of her mother’s early life with candor, respect and great affection. Having known Doris just a little, I can almost hear her telling these stories -and she had some to tell! I was amazed but not really surprised at some of her antics. I was surprised and dismayed to read of the abuse she suffered from men she loved and trusted. But like many women of her era, Doris emerged strong and proud. Debby did a fantastic job capturing the essence of Doris’s spirit. I can’t wait for the sequel! |
