Customers Review:

This is just what I needed. Nothing negative to say.
Very well done and plenty in depth.
Very happy
Like most of the other commentaries in the Word Biblical Commentary series, Stephen Smalley’s contribution on the Johannine Epistles is a scholarly endeavor and will be of most benefit to the student with a working knowledge of Greek, since there is a good deal of analyzing the Greek text. But, like many of the other WBC commentaries, much of what Smalley says is accessible to the layperson as well. This is especially true of the “Comment” and “Explanation” sections of the commentary. All in all this is a really good commentary. The one small drawback is that the introduction is quite brief. But one can overlook this, since Smalley’s explication of the text and his interaction with other interpreters makes this commentary one that is definitely worth owning.
