He was a genius of sequential art, image/page composition, line, figure, texture, pattern, etc. and puts his own unmistakable style to it all; a storyteller and illustrator par excellence.If you’re reading this, chances are good that you already love his work and just need to buy this collection. On the off chance that you aren’t familiar with Sergio Toppi, do you self a favor and buy this book.This book, as a book, is excellent. The image reproduction is superb, printed on large, thick, glossy pages, with hard covers. The graphic designer[s] did a fine job on the cover and front matter too. It’s the sort of quality and attention to detail that this maestro deserves.Oh, and it’s kind of inexpensive. You’re paying something like $0.11 per page for high quality reproductions of Toppi’s art… no brainier.I’ve already pre-ordered the next volume.I also own, read, reviewed, and recommend Sharaz-de and The Collector, released in English on the Archaia imprint a few years back. Those are the only other English language Toppi releases that I am aware of at this time. | |
