Our black leaders, influencers and celebrities came together to discuss honest and some heavy topics that we need to discuss as a community. Many different perspectives which provokes deep thoughts and really does spark interest to take action in our community. This book is a MUST purchase and read! For decades there have been seminars, workshops, meetings and conventions on how to handle the issues of our race. While there has been some progress, there have been more discussions than action plans. This book is your action plan. The beauty of it is that it’s not one voice. It’s a joint conversation from many notable voices in the community with unique takes, ideas and solutions. This is not at all like an election voting slate with names assigned for you to check off. This is the book that sparks thought and provokes action. A must read! This book opens in an unexpectedly light way and pulls you in instantly. Ed Gordon has a way with words and asks all the poignant questions that we as African-Americans should be asking ourselves and more importantly acting on. The insights of his rountable are as much contradictive at times as they are thought provoking. It’s interesting to hear the various perspectives and experiences from well known names in industries ranging from music, to politics, to activism, lawyers, entertainment and authors. Its thought provoking to say the least. I’d purchase it again. This is very good book to read. Always respected Ed Gordon as a good journalistGlad he interviewed others to give perspective about black community I am currently still reading the book. However I must say as a white woman growing gratefully in a predominately black are and school I was also not afforded the same opportunities as the “wealthy” “caucasian” middle class I can not stand to be categorized with “White America” I’m simply american struggling as best with the rest but I admire the inspiration as I try to do everyday knowing how hard it is out there. Much Respect✌ Good read Covers many topics. I love it. Outstanding read; long overdue!!! |
