I love this book. Give as a gift or keep, it;s awesome! What a terrific coffee table book. It is a fantastic size (10.1 x 1.9 x 13.6 inches) and the quality is great. Love all the photos – some of which bring back a lot of memories. I’ve had fun turning the pages with my 18 year old daughter and talking about LA as it was…….back when. I bought this one along with the New York City Portrait but ended up liking the Los Angeles one much better. Maybe because I spent much more time in LA vs NYC. Large format and fantastic photography of LA over the years. I’ll be enjoying this book for a long time. Quality binding. Hard back covered w/ cloth (not cheap plastic) under dust jacket. Hefty as heck. Size (which is hard to imagine even if you get out a tape measure) is *large* – art book size (smaller than baby elephant but *big*). Well printed. Many iconic and historic photos. Perfect gift for an Angeleno. I am very pleased with it – worth every cent! Gorgeous book. Great gift. Looks so good sitting out but also interesting to actually read and look at. LOVE!! Such a great book! Interesting look back in time. I bought this book for my son ‘n law, who is a major history buff. He had seen it while travelling in California and put it on his “wish” list. It is fabulous! The pictures are amazing, but it also has written history, making it an excellent source for both the picture lover who does not have a lot of time to read, and the historian. He is thrilled with it. This massive book is loaded with a pictorial history of LA that will keep you captivated for hours on end. Love this one! |
