They are bright and the little ones, I believe, will be enchanted with them. (One other item about the illustrations is that they depict children of different races which is indeed outstanding, as well). The book is in the Land Scape mode so is read horizontally instead of vertically on the Kindle. ( I read it on my PC and it was even larger than the Kindle would have been),In addition to the illustrations the text itself rhymes which I feel is always a bonus for the little ones. I appreciated the fact that there are ‘big words’ for the children to question. Words such as ‘asteroids, continents, apathy, plateaus, geysers, and krills’ come to mind. Just a multitude of teaching moments which is a so educational for the young audience. The following may be considered a spoiler but is intended for the parents reading this…The book itself tells of the order of creation. And, along the way, there are birds and animals (with the sounds they make; the day and night creation; the length of orbit of our planet; climate and plants…and much more. Each and every child of this universe is unique and special. God did indeed have a plan when the Earth was created. This has my highest recommendation for multiple reasons. Excellent presentation, educational aspects, and it also rhymes. Most highly recommended. This was a wonderful book to indoctrinate my children with creepy lies and nonsense. My children loved hearing me tell them how evolution is a lie just like the round earth is. We loved reading this on our flat earth. Tomorrow night we will read about the flying spaghetti monster. Although my children may be too young to hear about pirates, beer and strippers. Well, they did hear how god drowned every puppy in the word and also drowned everyone’s grandmother and best friend in the true story of Noah’s ark ( aka God commits genocide) so perhaps strippers and pirates won’t give them nightmares. May the flying spaghetti monster touch you and your children! I have read each and every one of Matthew’s books, and this one is absolutely my favorite. I am in love with the illustrations; Gillian Gamble really brings this story to life, and her simplicity and use of light and color has readers staring intently at each and every page.Matthew’s always been great with rhythm and language play in his books, but I really like how this book changes the rhyme pattern throughout. It keeps things moving and flowing in such a catchy, natural way, that listeners feel as though they’re on a magic carpet ride throughout God’s creation of the world. This is a perfect book for any occasion: baby showers, christenings, birthdays, holidays–you name it. It should be on every family’s shelf because the message: that God not only created the world, but He also created each and every one of us for a very special, very unique purpose. Matthew Paul Turner has done it yet again with this brand new book. Like his other three titles, When God Made The World, is incredibly written with beautiful illustrations. This book brings the creation of the world into a fun, understandable, and catchy light making it memorable for all ages. The illustrations bring the the story to life with enchanting imagery that depicts children of all races and abilities alongside the beauty of God’s world and animals.Matthew has a real gift in his stories of not only telling the story of God but really centering in the uniqueness of each and every person. Without fail, he has created a fourth book that I would consider a “must-have“ for any family bookshelf and the perfect gift for any little one on your list. In the short time I have had this book I have shared it with many others and they have all loved it! The being able to share at any time is a reason to have the digital as well as the gorgeous printed picture book!I so wish I had this book (& all the Matthew Paul Turner books) when my kids were young, but thankfully as a Pastor I still have the opportunity to read to kids these beautiful books during worship and education times.I’m so thankful that this book exists as creation is one of the stories that captures children’s imaginations over and over and they always want to know how they fit into creation. This book reflects my theology of a loving God that I want to pass along to the children I teach. The book does this “teaching” through lyrical poetry and gorgeous illustrations!! Matthew Paul Turner, author of “When I Pray for You”brings us a new story, centering on Creation: “When God Made the World.” This is a beautifully illustrated book (pictures by Gillian Gamble) that captures attention with its colorful palette and inclusive representation of all types of kids. The book is written in a poem form, with encouragement for kids to not only enjoy creation but to take care of it and ourselves. My son read it along with me and loved that it had so many unique illustrations and pointed out his favorite sections. It is sure to be a bedtime favorite for us! |
