This Patterson-Born collaboration works well. I couldn’t put it down once I started. Wow!Detective Tom Moon is a likable cop, flaws and all, attached to an inter-agency crime taskforce in Miami. This fast-paced crime suspense focuses on a human trafficking scheme, linking Dutch smugglers and Russian mob forces in Amsterdam and Miami. Moving but honest.Patterson’s short-chapter format keeps this thriller focused and intense, while developing the human side of the believable characters and plotline. The storyline is edgy enough to keep things interesting, while following Patterson’s successful crime formula. The book’s storytelling works well the right balance of narration and dialogue with a first-person focus emphasizing Tom Moon’s perspectives for about half of the storyline—the rest being third-person accounts of primary characters. I don’t want to reveal too much. It’s a great escape read! This satisfying novel could be a standalone or the beginning to a solid series. I loved the Audible narration that enhanced character dialogues, making my reading experience even more enjoyable.I usually don’t care for author collaborations, but this short and fun read was not disappointing at all.
This author has again provided an amazing story on a topic that has been overlooked by law enforcement for much too long. It is amazing to know of so many people entrapped by human traffickers in this day and age. All one needs to see is the debacle of the Jeffrey Epstein affair to see how money buys silence. A disturbing yet gripping tale for me.
Human trafficking is the center of this fictional book, but it is a real problem even today. This book shows us how difficult it is to stop it. It is a growing disease in our society. It is a worldly problem because most of the girls come from other countries, and their are people who are trying any way they can to transport the girls to the United States. It makes you sick to think about how these girls are used.
I did enjoy this book and read it very quickly but because I am such an Alex Cross fan I was not enthused with this storyline. The characters and switching of countries etc. did not appeal to me. This book has great promise I feel, but not in the same way the Alex Cross series has flourished over the years. Tom Moon presents a whole different experience from JP and hopefully I will adapt !!!!!
This book introduces a great new character – Det. Tom Moon. Former collegefootball player with a law degree. Currently heading up a task force for the FBIinvestigating international sex trafficking. While the most awful current crimesappear to involve terrorism and drugs, international sex trafficking is right up therewith them in terms of human toll and damage. Some of the villains in this story arecolorful and sociopathic. Moon and his team are in great danger dealing withthese awful people, but they close out their case successfully. I hope JamesPatterson will bring Tom Moon back again.Fred Dimond
Loved this book. Loved Tom Moon and his family and coworkers. If someone doesn’t convert this to a movie, they’re missing a great opportunity. Meanwhile, can we please have more of Tom Moon? Please?
Deceive Moon is a very engaging character. His profound sense of morality is engaging, and he is in the right profession to help keep citizens safe. His relationship with the trafficked children is heart warming. His home life with sister and mother makes him a character with a big heart. It’s good he is on our side.
Authors need to make a series for detective Moon. He’s no Jack Reacher but he’s just as menacing,Follow him from the US to Amsterdam as he tries to take down the man behind human trafficking. His methods are well owned and he’s spot in!
