Customers Review:

Wondering if the very attractive, smart, ambitious sweet young thing with the dagger nails and masters degree in business from USC suddenly sharing your perch on the corporate ladder at work is trustworthy or not? Wonder no more. Former FBI agent Robin Dreeke’s new book, Sizing People Up, provides a Technicolor A to Z guide to just that, how best to determine how much and how far those around you can be trusted. Derek is the former head of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Behavior Analysis Program, but he’s no wonk. Sizing People Up is far more of a story—beginning with Dreeke’s tale of nearly being obliterate by a falling tower on 9/11—than a do this, do that self help manual. And though much if not most about sizing people up would lie in your ability to get a straight answer to the question: what do you want? The Devil is in the details and Dreeke has lots. And his advice? Among other things, deception is not always based on dishonesty but delusion. Your NBF tells you he’s great at basketball and could be a point guard in the NBA? And really believe it. So best go see him stuff a few on the court. My example not Dreeke’s and I won’t step on his punch lines, better to just go get the book.
Following up on his seminal book “Code of Trust.” Robin Dreeke Ex-Head of FBI Counter-Intelligence Behavioral Analysis Division. It takes you on another educational journey. From 9/11 & Russian Agents to Silicon Valley & ‘Mr. X’. Robin shows & teaches ‘Who to Trust, Why to Trust & When to Trust.’ If you have ever wanted a complete map of ‘Trust/No Trust.’ This book will show you the way. Each chapter gives you a list of ‘ What to notice’ to know if you are dealing with someone you should do business with, have relationships with or have in your inner circle — tired of being ‘taken advantage of’? Having deals or hearts broken? This is the manual for you! Robin is not only good at what he does. He IS a Jedi Master! Slay or at least avoid the ‘Sith’ in your life with ‘Sizing People Up.
Using this system, it’s easy to look back with 20/20 hindsight and see how it applied to so many people I’ve known. The fascinating historical vignettes from the worlds of law enforcement, business, and intelligence/counter intelligence that back up each step really bring the points home, showing real world application. From now on, I’ll be seeing Dreeke’s positive and negative tells everywhere I look, and I will be “Sizing People Up”!
I enjoyed it. Good, practical advice. Very informative.
This great book by Dreeke and Stauth was a gift and I’m very grateful for it. These days with all the chaos and uncertainty it has become critically important to be able to make a good decision about trust worthiness. In Sizing People Up the authors do a great job of revealing the six signs that predict positive behavior.By following these tenets, we can limit the uncertainty and stress in our professional and even our personal life. As we absorb these ideas it will be harder for people to disguise the parts of their lives that they don’t want others to see. I especially appreciate the + and – tells of the perception of a good long term relationship.Apply these six elements of predictability, and you’ll find that the process of probing people’s personalities is not as difficult as it once may have been. It simply takes the system presented in this book. The principles work fast and with equal veracity in business, personal, family, and social situations.Dreeke and Stauth have written a very useful book. Highly recommended!
Having read Robin Dreek’s book, Sizing People Up, it is apparent to me that he has his finger on the pulse of what concerns all of us: Who is trustworthy and who is not and how to predict it. Robin’s Six Signs of Behavior Prediction are helpful in many ways. It is especially important to know about reliability. How can a person trust if they cannot rely. Robin’s simple answer is you can’t trust them. This provocative and well written book contains humor and numerous truths. I can easily see it as a one man television seminar. Thank you Robin for addressing the difficult topic of behavior prediction. It helps everyone to have that kind of vision and understanding.
I loved this book. I bought it because I apparently have trouble sizing people up. I’ve been in the position to hire employees. In this capacity, I made a few mistakes. In the matter of friends, sometimes it’s been too late before I realize they are toxic. In this book, I was surprised to learn, as part of the six step system for sizing people up, that it’s not what they have to say about themselves that matters to much, it’s more about how perceptive they are about your needs as an employer or friend. Though it truly is hard to read people, after reading this book, I will be better at it.
