Customers Review:

Black is a Rainbow Color is a delightful overview of Black culture and history through the eyes of a child. The lyrical text takes the listener and reader on an exciting journey of discovery while the bright, multilayered illustrations add depth and dimension to the words. This is much more than a picture book – the author provides resources for parents, caregivers and teachers. Included are background on numerous phrases and references within the text – historical events, poetry, and music. These additions allow a broader understanding and encourage more exploration. This book is a treasure for children and people of all ages!
I thank and appreciate the author for writing this book. That statement resonated with me and is a great way to respond to children when they say we are brown, not black, just as my own daughter has. I love how historical representations are woven throughout the text. It offers a great opportunity to discuss important Africa-American individuals. I bought a copy for my job and will be purchasing a copy for my daughter.
Black is a Rainbow Color is an excellent book, a visual masterpiece. The poetry and bold colors are pleasing to the eyes and ears. Masterpiece!
The illustrations are absolutely brilliant and the book send a wonderful message of family, community and an appreciation for those who helped paved the way for African Americans.
My Daughters Class loved it!
Eloquent words that makes one think and smile all at the same time. The artist pictures are beautiful and fun to look at each time and find something new. A must have for your child’s book collection
